E-larm is a new PC utility from Legion Software. It offers a software solution for users who require multiple events and reminders to be scheduled and activated at a specific time. E-larm allows users to activate messages, shutdown the computer, run applications, open webpages and terminate internet connections.

Sitting discretely in the system tray, E-larm can be called on at any time to schedule an event or edit the settings for one already in the event queue.
Reminders allow events which were missed for any reason to be activated when the user decides. Easy access to basic options allows E-larm to be simply configured.

Whether you use a PC for work or leisure, E-larm is an essential utility for you.

Open the elarm_stp.zip file (you will need a zip tool to do this - if you do not have one goto www.winzip.com.)

Unzip the contents of the zip file into a directory of your choice. Then run the setup.exe file. This will begin the installation software.

Continue the installation following the on screen instructions.

Once you have successfully installed E-larm, you can access the program by clicking on the link created in the [Start Menu] > [Programs] folder or double click the E-larm.exe file in the folder you selected to install the program.

The first time you run the program you will be prompted for whether you wish E-larm to automatically load at Windows startup in future. Clicking [Yes] will add a link to E-larm in the [Start Menu] > [programs] > [StartUp] folder.
The initial E-larm start up screen will appear and after a couple of seconds the main E-larm program will be loaded. The E-larm icon will be accessible through the system tray.

Right clicking on the icon lets you access either the Event Manager or directly add a new event. You can also exit the program from here. Double clicking on the icon will also load the Event Manager.

With the Event Manager window open the Add Event window is accessible by clicking the [ADD] button.

Once the window is open you can select the unique time you wish the event to occur, from the year down to the minute. there are four main event sections from which you can select specific events from :-

Reminder

Selecting a reminder event allows you to enter a text message which wil be redisplayed at the time you select. To enter your message just select the "User Message" text box and either type or paste your message in.

Application

Once the application event is selected you will be able to either select an executable file (.exe) by clicking the [...] button next to the "Application to load" text box or type in the location of the file yourself.

Ticking the "Load associated file" check box will enable the text box below. You can enter your choice of file here or select the [...] button again to search your computer for a file.

Internet

The internet event section has two event types; Open a user specified webpage or terminate a dialup internet connection.

entering a url (in the http://www.awebsite.com format) will open the site in your default browser.
selecting "Terminate internet connection" will disconnect any live dialup connection.

Shut Down

The standard windows events of Shut Down, Reboot or Log Off are accessible in this menu. You may also select to be prompted before these events occur ensuring you're not in the middle of an important project when a shut down event is executed.

Repeating an Event

To repeat an event, tick the lower most date option on the 'Add Event' window. This will enable the repeat event time selection list box. Select either Hourly, Daily, Weekly, Monthly or Yearly.

Once you are happy with the unique event setup, there are other options which may be selected which determine how the event occurs ... Below each individual event menu three options allow you to select whether a sound event occurs with the event. "No Sound" means no audio will be emitted prior to the event, "Beep" will emit a beep sound and Use Sound File will emit a user selected audio wave file. The Default wav file is the alert.wav file stored in the programs directory, clicking the [...] button next to the "Use sound file" option will allow you to select a unique file.

In the Event Manager window, selecting an event then the [Edit] button. This will load the Add Event window with the details of the event you wish to edit.

Selecting an event then [DELETE] will remove the event.

Run Missed Events

This option allows you to set whether events missed or set prior to the current date are executed

Start Minimized

Determines whether the Event Manager is loaded when E-larm is run.

Load on Startup

Adds or removes a link to the [Start] Menu > [Programs] > [StartUp] which determines whether E-larm loads on StartUp.

Open My Computer from the desktop, then open the Control Panel. Select Add/Remove Programs.

Once the Add/Remove Programs window is open, scroll down the list of program names until E-larm v1.0 is visible. Select E-larm then click [Add/Remove] and follow the on-screen instructions.
